The illustrious history of ISAR and ART in India has been punctuated by the many stalwarts at its helm. This year’s Annual Congress of the Indian Society of Indian Reproduction at Kolkata – the land of intellectuals like Rabindranath Tagore, took us down memory lane and served to pay homage to one of the unsung heroes and pioneers of ART in India, Dr. Subhash Mukhopadhyay. Although his path breaking work in the field of ART never got the acclaim it deserved, it sparked the growth of a new arena of scientific enquiry and put India on the map in terms of expertise in ART. Against the backdrop of such immense personalities, the vast fraternity of experts in ART, as well as budding Clinicians and Embryologists, assembled at the Science City, Kolkata, from the 19th to the 22nd of April, setting the stage for the exchange of a plethora of new ideas, experiences and knowledge.
